BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin-Wallace College senior 141-pound wrestler Sayre Wuhr (Hudson) has been chosen as this week's Ohio Athletic Conference Tri-Wrestler of the Week. Wuhr shares the honor with Heidelberg College 149/157-pounder Tony Patrizi and Muskingum College 157-pounder Errol Robinson.
Last week, Wuhr had a 4-0 record at the Division III National Wrestling Duals in Williamsport, Pennsylvania hosted by Lycoming College. Wuhr was dominant as he won twice by decision (7-1 and 6-0), once by a pin in 4:53 and another time by technical fall with a 17-2 score.
Overall, Wuhr has a 12-5 record this season and a 50-31 mark for his B-W career. Wuhr, a health and physical education major, began his collegiate career at Capital University, but when Capital disbanded its program after the 2000-2001 season, he transferred to B-W.
Wuhr is also the third Yellow Jacket wrestler to win this award this winter. Sophomore 197-pounder Devin Carman (Ashtabula/ Geneva) won it on December 8, 2003 for his efforts the Week of Dec. 1-6, and senior 165-pound national qualifier Joe Heiland (Shelby) won it on Dec. 15 for his efforts the Week of Dec. 8-13.
The Yellow Jacket wrestling team, now 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the OAC, is idle this week and will next compete when they travel to Wilmington for an OAC dual match on January 20.
