BW Wrestlers Defeat Case Western Reserve, 34-13, in Berea
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team defeated cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University today (Saturday, November 14, 2009) by a score of 34-13 in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium of the Lou Higgins Center. The win improves the Yellow Jackets dual meet record to 1-3.
For the Yellow Jackets, 125-pounder Jeremy Dombrady (Copley), 133-pounder Phillip Payne (Orange Village/ Orange), and 141-pounder Grant Steward (Columbus/ Worthington Kilbourne) each won by forfiet to start off the match.
At 174 lbs., junior defending Ohio Athletic Conference champ and 2009 NCAA Division III national qualifier Andrew Scavuzzo (Cuyahoga Falls/ Woodridge) won by a major decision, 10-1. At 197 lbs., junior Tristan Stoll (Norwalk) pinned his opponent in 27 seconds and at 285 lbs., sophomore heavyweight Ryan Jones (Uniontown/ Lake) pinned his opponent in 2:36 of the first period.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action next Saturday, November 21 when they to Waynesburg, Pennsylvania to compete in the Waynesburg (Pa.) Duals. Action is set to start at 10:00 a.m.
