BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College wrestling team defeated the Rochester Institute of Technology (N.Y.), 44-10, on the second of the two-day Budd Whitehill Duals hosted by Lycoming (Pa.) College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on Saturday, January 16, 2010. For the weekend, the Yellow Jackets posted an overall mark of 2-2.
For the season, B-W is now 4-10 overall and is back in action on Tuesday, January 19 at Ohio Athletic Conference rival and nationally-ranked Heidelberg University at 7:30 p.m. in Tiffin, Ohio.
Junior 125-pounder Tyler Erwin (Watkins Memorial), junior 133-pounder Phillip Payne (Orange), junior 157-pounder Korey Leonhard (Kinsman/ Pymatuning Valley), junior 174-pounder Andrew Scavuzzo (Woodridge) and junior 197- pounder Tristan Stoll (Milan/ Edison) all won by pin.
Senior 141-pounder Eric Schubert (Oberlin) won by a technical fall in 3:52, sophomore 149-pounder Grant Steward (Worthington Kilbourne) won by a 7-4 decision, and sophomore heavyweight Ryan Jones (Uniontown/ Lake) won by forfeit.
Stoll’s one-minute and 49-second pin was his third of the weekend and fourth overall in his last four victories. His four pins required only 6:54 of total time – shorter than the time of an individual match. Stoll also improves his season record to 12-2. Scavuzzo improves to 10-2 and Jones moves to 13-5.
