BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace College wrestlers defeated Waynesburg College and Case Western Rerserve in a Tri-Match held at the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium on Saturday Nov. 22.
In the first match against Waynesburg (Pa.), Devin Carman (Ashtabula/Geneva) defeated Steve Wagers by pin fall in the second period. Sophomore heavyweight Bryan Kmetz (Brunswick) also won by a pin fall in the first period. The Yellow Jackets went on to win four additional matches by forfeit en route to the 36-18 victory.
In the match with CWRU, sophomore Jared Selover (Wapakoneta) won by pin fall in the first period. Also adding victories for B-W were Eddie Waters (Grove City) with a 12-10 indivdual match score, Sayre Wuhr (Hudson) with a 16-2 indivdual match score giving the Yellow Jackets four team points. Senior grappler Joe Heiland (Shelby) won his 160 lbs weight class match over Mike Sanchez 10-4. Sophomores Roger Roman (Wooster/Northwestern) and Kmetz both won their matches en route to the 22-16 win.
B-W, now 2-0 to start the season, will be in action Tuesday, Dec. 2 against Ohio Athletic Conference rival Mount Union College at the Ursprung Gymnasium.
