BEREA,OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College wrestling team finished eigth out of 15 schools at the Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology Tournament on December 2.
Placing the highest for the Yellow Jackets was sophomore 133-pounder Brian Bucher (Toledo) with a fourth place win. Bucher lost in the semifinals to John Carroll University's Adam Pissurro 9-7 and then went on to wrestle in the thrid place match where he was defeated by Josh Pauling from Wilkes (Pa.) University 4-0. Bucher finished the tournament with a record of 3-2.
B-W's two fifth place finishers were junior 174-pounder Jeremy Feador (North Olmsted) and junior 184-pounder Bryan Haines (Amanda/ Teays Valley). Feador lost out in the semifinal match and then went on to defeat Branchen from John Carroll for fifth place by a medical forefit. Haines lost in the first round of matches to Hamon from John Carroll, 6-2, and then worked his way through the consolation bracket to defeated Davis from Rhode Island College 5-3 for his fifth place finish.
Placing sixth was sophomore 149-pounder Mohamed Salem (Westlake) and junior 165-pounder Gino Russo (Northfield Center/ Nordonia). Salem lost in the quarterfinals, then went on in the consolation bracket to take on Chris Wells from Johnson & Wales (R.I.) College in the fifth palce match, which he lost by technical fall, 17-2.. Russo lost his semifinals match and then continued on the the fifth place match where he took on Mike Sanches from Case Western Reserve University, which he lost by a medical forefit.
The Yellow Jacket wrestlers will be back in action on Tuesday, December 5 when they travel to Alliance, Ohio to take on OAC rival Mount Union College in the Timken Physical Education Building at 7:30 p.m.
