Dual Match Against Oswego (N.Y.) State
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College wrestling team was defeated today (Friday, January 14, 2005) by Oswego College, 30-13, in its third dual match of the day at the 20-team Budd Whitehall Division III National Dual Match Championships at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Yellow Jackets will compete in a challenge matches tomorrow morning..
With its loss, B-W fell to 4-9 overall.
Despite the loss, sophomore 197-pounder Devin Carman (Ashtabula/ Geneva), ranked seventh in the latest Division III Adidas/Brute Division III Coaches Association poll, won by major decision over Pete Kaskella 14-6, and junior 157-pounder Steve Vaugn (Parma, Normandy) recorded a pin in the second period of his match against Jarrett Mills. Also recording a win for the Yellow Jackets was T. Terry (Bedford, St. Peter Chanel), who won by a 7-3 decision over Chuck Gutilla.
The second day of the Division III National Duals is tomorrow (Saturday, January 15) and begins at 9 a.m.
Next week, the Yellow Jackets travel to Cleveland State University and will be one of eight NCAA Division III school who will participate at the NCAA National Duals in the Cleveland State Convocation Center. Action begins at CSU at 9:00 a.m.
