BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College wrestling team finished sixth out of 14 teams at the Ohio Northern Tournament in Ada, Ohio on Saturday, Dec. 13. For complete results, please click here.
Sophomore Devin Carman (Ashtabula/Geneva) led B-W winning three out of his four matches during the tournament for a second place finish indiviually in the 197-pound weight class. His only loss was to Ryan Kirst of Ashland University in the championship match. Sophomore Jared Selover (Wapakoneta) lost to James Phillips of Ashland in the quarterfinals and then to Wiley Craft from Indianapolis University in the third place match to finish fourth overall. Sayre Wuhr (Hudson) went 2-1 for the tournament and finished in fourth place in the 149-pound weight class division.
Other top performers include senior Joe Heiland (Shelby) who lost his only match in the champions bracket to Mike Grindstaff of Cumberland and then won all six of his matches in the losers bracket to finish 6-1 overall for the tournament and a third place finish individually in the 165-pound weight class. Sophomore Brian Kmetz (Brunswick) posted a fifth place finish in the heavyweight division.
Ashland University won the overall tournament with a 195.5 team score followed by West Liberty State (W.Va.) in second place with a 100.5 team score. Indianapolis University rounded out the top three with a 94.0 team score.
B-W will not return to action until January 9-10 for the Lycoming Duals in Williamsport, Pa. Events are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
