BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College wrestling team had a 1-4 record today (November 20, 2004) at the annual Olivet (Mich.) College Comet Duals. In the order of its matches, B-W lost to the University of Wisconsin at Steven's Points, 31-13, Lycoming (Pa.) College, 37-8, lost to nationally-ranked Augsburg (Minn.) College, 49-0, lost to host Olivet, 24-16, and beat Rose-Hulman (Ind.), 38-9.
With its 1-4 mark, B-W is now 3-5 overall.
Despite the loss to UW-Steven's Point, sophomore 197-pounder Devin Carman (Ashtabula/ Geneva) won by major decision and senior 149-pounder Scott Conrath (St. Clairsville), freshman 157-pounder Gino Russo (Northfield/ Nordonia) and sophomore 285-pounder Bryan Kmetz (Brunswick) all won by decision.
Despite the loss to Lycoming, both Carman and Kmetz each won by major decision.
Despite the loss to Olivet, Carman won by superior decision, Kmetz and Russo won by major decision and sophomore 141-pounder Joe Smith (Bellevue/ Senior) won by decision.
In the win versus Rose-Hulman, senior 125-pounder Mike Ham (Concord/ Notre Dame - Cathedral Latin), freshman 133-pounder John Weston (Rocky River) and Carman all won by forfeits, sophomore 141-pounder Rayshawn Eatmon (East Cleveland/ Shaw) won by decision, Russo won by pin, junior 157-pounder Steve Vaughn (Parma/ Normandy) won by major decision, junior 174-pounder T. Terry (Bedford/ St. Peter Chanel) won by decision and Kmetz won by decision.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Tuesday, November 30 when they host their Ohio Athletic Conference opener against Ohio Northern University in the Ursprung Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
