BEREA, OHIO — The Baldwin-Wallace College wrestling team lost its second straight Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet with a 28-6 loss to John Carroll University tonight (Feb. 15) in University Heights.
With the loss, the Yellow Jackets drop to 7-17 overall and 3-3 in the OAC. John Carroll improves to 9-5 overall, 5-1 in the OAC.
Despite the loss, senior 165-pounder Joe Heiland (Shelby) defeated John Carroll's Mike Keough, 11-9, and sophomore Devin Carmen (Ashtabula/Geneva), who is currently ranked seventh in Division III in the latest Adidas-Brute National Wrestling Coaches Association rankings defeated John Carroll's Dan Brown, 7-5.
Heiland improves to 5-4 overall and 5-0 in OAC action. Carman continues to lead the team in wins with 23 and is now 23-3 overall and a perfect 6-0 in conference matches.
B-W returns to the mat this Thursday, Feb. 17 and will host Cleveland rival Case Western Reserve at Ursprung Gymnasium. It will be Senior's Night as Sterling Sebek (Northfield Center/ Nordonia), Heiland and Scott Conrath (St. Clairsville) will be wresling in their final regular-season home meet at Ursprung Gymnasium.
