Baldwin-Wallace College Wrestlers Win Team Title at the Heidelberg College Invitational Tournament

BEREA, OHIO -- The 18th-ranked Baldwin-Wallace College wrestling team won the team championship and placed first of 10 teams today at the Heidelberg College Invitational Tournament in the Seiberling Gymnasium in Tiffin. Ohio.

The Yellow Jackets had 130.5 team points and three individual champions. Highlighting the meet for B-W was freshman Jared Selover (Wapakoneta) who was named as the tournament's Most Valuable Wrestler. Selover had a 3-0 record and improved to 17-1 overall this year. Enroute to his title and MVP honors, Selover beat Brandon Kissinger of Mt. Union in the quarterfinals, Ty Klofta of Ohio Northern in the semifinals and Heidelberg's Dustin McClintock in the championship match, 10-2.

In addition to Selover, B-W's other two individual champion were freshman 197-pounder Devin Carman (Ashtabula/ Geneva), who also had a 3-0 mark, and senior heavyweight Greg Hartlaub (Avon Lake), who had a 4-0 record. Placing second were junior 141-pounder Sayre Wuhr (Hudson) and junior 165-pounder Joe Heiland (Shelby). Finishing third were sophomore 149-pounder Scott Conrath (St. Clairsville), freshman 184-pounder T. Terry (Bedford/ St. Peter Chanel) and backup 197-pounder Brian Tipka (New Philadelphia). Also placing fourth were senior 133-pounder Jeff Varney (Chagrin Falls/ Kenston) and junior 174-pounder Dan DiSalvo (North Olmsted).

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action this Tuesday, January 7, 2003 when they host Ohio Athletic Conference rival Wilmington College in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m. B-W enters that match with a perfect 4-0 dual match record overall and a 1-0 mark in the OAC. Next weekend, Jan. 10-11, B-W travels to Williamsport, Pennsylvania and Lycoming College where it will compete in the 2003 Division III National Dual Match Championships.
