BEREA, OHIO -- The 18th-ranked Baldwin-Wallace College wrestling team finished 2-2 at the Division III National Dual Match Championships in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and at Lycoming College.
Highlighting the event for the Yellow Jackets were unbeaten grapplers, senior 133-pounder Jeff Varney (Chagrin Falls/ Kenston), junior 165-pounder Joe Heiland (Shelby) and senior 174-pounder Dan DiSalvo (North Olmsted). All three wrestlers had 4-0 records. In addition, freshman 125-pounder Jared Selover (Wapakoneta) and senior heavyweight Greg Hartlaub (Avon Lake) each had 3-1 marks and freshman 197-pounder Devin Carman (Ashtabula/ Geneva) was 2-1 overall.
During the two-day competition, B-W lost to 25th-ranked King's (Pa.) College, 24-21, then beat Ohio Athletic Conference rival Muskingum College, 24-18, lost to 23rd-ranked SUNY-Oswego (N.Y.), 23-16, and beat Scranton (Pa.) University, 31-22. For each match result, please check below.
To date, B-W is led in victories by Selover with 21 and a 21-2 record. Heiland and Hartlaub are tied for second with 18 wins each. Heiland is 18-4 and Hartlaub is 18-5 overall.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action next Tuesday, January 14, when they host Muskingum in an OAC dual match in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea at 7:30 p.m.
