Baldwin-Wallace College Gets Defeated by Cortland State (N.Y.), 22-14, in the

Second Round of the Division III National Duals at Lycoming

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College wrestling team was defeated today (Friday, January 14, 2005) by Cortland State (N.Y), 22-14, in its second match at the 20-team Budd Whitehall Division III National Dual Match Championships at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Yellow Jackets will now face Oswego College in the third round at 7:00 p.m.

With its loss, B-W fell to 4-8 overall.

Despite the loss, freshman Gino Russo (Northfield Center/ Nordonia) won by decision against Cortland's John Franchi, 10-4. Sophomore 197-pounder Devin Carman (Ashtabula/ Geneva), ranked seventh in the latest Division III Adidas/Brute Division III Coaches Association poll, won by technical fall against Jeff Standish, 17-2, 4:20 and senior 184-pounder Sterling Sebek (Columbus, Georgia) recorded his second win after coming back from an injury plagued first half of the season by defeating Treavor LeBlanc, 6-3. Rounding out the B-W winners was junior heavyweight Bryan Kmetz (Brunswick) who defeated Mike Karbowiak, 6-2.

The second day of the Division III National Duals is tomorrow, Saturday, January 15, and begins at 9 a.m.

Next week, the Yellow Jackets travel to Cleveland State University and will be one of eight NCAA Division III school who will participate at the NCAA National Duals in the Cleveland State Convocation Center. Action begins at CSU at 9:00 a.m.
