College Comet Duals
BEREA, OHIO — The Baldwin-Wallace College wrestling team had a 2-2 record today (November 19, 2005) at the annual Olivet (Mich.) College Comet Duals. In the order of its matches, B-W lost to host Olivet, 20-14, defeated Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology, 19-18, lost to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, 28-15 and defeated Tri-State (Ind.) University, 23-16.
With its 2-2 mark, B-W is now 4-3 overall.
Despite the loss to Olivet, senior Mike Ham (Concord/ Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) won by decision, freshman 149-pounder Mohamed Salem (Westlake) won by major decision, sophomore 157-pounder Gino Russo (Macedonia/ Nordonia) won by major decision and junior Bryan Kmetz (Brunswick) won by decision.
In the win versus Rose Hulman, Salem won by major decision, Russo won by decision, freshman 184-pounder Joe Incorvaia (Medina/ Highland) won by forfeit and Kmetz won by pinfall in a time of 2:58.
Despite the loss to Wisc.-Stevens Point, Bucher, Salem and Russo all won by decision.
In the win versus Tri-State, Bucher won his third match of the day with a major decision, Salem finshed the invitational a perfect 4-0 winning his final match by decision, Russo won by major decision to also finish 4-0 on the day, seniors 165-pounder T. Terry (Bedford/ St. Peter Chanel) and 174-pounder Sterling Sebek (Columbus, Ga./ Brookstone) won by decision, and Kmetz won his second match by pinfall and third match of the day this time pinning his opponent in a time of 1:05.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Tuesday, November 29 when they host their Ohio Athletic Conference opener against Mount Union College in the Ursprung Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
