Baldwin Wallace Wrestlers Post a 2-1 Record at Season-Opening Case Western Reserve Quad Meet

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace College wrestlers start their season with a 2-1 record with their performance at the Case Western Reserve Quad today (Nov. 13). They defeated both Waynesburg College (44-12) and Case Western Rerserve (36-13) , but lost to the College of Mount St. Joseph (24-19) in the matches held at the Veale Center at Case Western Reserve Universtiy.

In the second match against Waynesburg (Pa.),junior Eric Jaynes (West Carrolton) pinned Weishaar in the first period of his 133 pound match.  Senior Scott Conrath (St. Clairsville) won by decision over Laird in his 149 pound match. Junior T. Terry (Bedford/St. Peter Chanel) won his 174 pound match with a decision of 6-3,and freshman Bryan Gulich (Richmond Heights) also won by decision in his 184 pound match. Junior heavyweight Bryan Kmetz (Brunswick) won his match with a tech. fall in the second period. The Yellow Jackets went on to win the match by a score of 44-12.

In the match with CWRU, junior Mike Ham (Concord/Notre Dame-Cathederal Latin) won by decision with a score of 9-4. Also adding victories for B-W were Conrath with a 7-3 decision over Case's Klingensmith, and Kmetz won his match with a pin in the first period adding six points to the Jacket's score.B-W won the match by a score of 36-13 with the help of Case's four forfeits.

In the match against the College of Mount St. Joseph, Jaynes won the 133 pound match with a major decision of 11-3. The jackets added three other wins to their total, with decision victories from Russo (10-7), Terry (7-4), and Kmetz who shutout his heavyweight opponent with a score of 5-0. To spite their good effort the Jackets lost the match by a score of 24-19.

B-W, now 2-1 to start the season, will be in action Saturday, November 20, at 9:00 a.m. at the Olivet (Mich.) College Duals.
