BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace College wrestlers start their season with a 2-1 record with their performance at the B-W Quad today (Nov. 12). They defeated both Waynesburg College (37-3) and Case Western Rerserve (23-18) , but lost to the College of Mount St. Joseph (21-20) in the matches held at the Rudolph Urpsrung Gymnasium in Berea.
In the match against Waynesburg (Pa.), senior Chris Harrold (Willoughby/ South) won his 133-pound match by decision with the score of 4-2. Sophomore Scott Haber (Parma/ Normandy) won by major decision with a score of 13-3. Senior Steve Vaughn (Parma/ Normandy) won his 149-pound match by a 10-6 decision. Sophomore Gino Russo (Northfield Center/ Nordonia) defeated Jacob Benzco by technical fall with a score of 20-4. Senior T. Terry (Bedford/ St. Peter Chanel) defeated Jason Weeks, 5-2. Senior Sterling Sebek (Columbus, Ga./ Brookstone) won his 174-pound match by decision with a score of 7-2. Freshman Joseph Incorvaia (Medina/ Highland) won by major decision, 15-3. Also adding victories or B-W were junior Patrick Rawlinson (Berea) won his 197-pound match by forfeit and senior 285-pounder Brian Kmetz (Brunswick) pinned Lawrence Neubauer in a time of 1:48. The Yellow Jackets went on to win the match by a score of 37-3.
In the match with CWRU, senior Mike Ham (Concord/Notre Dame-Cathederal Latin) won by decision with a score of 5-1. Haber defeated B.J. Greenman by decision, 9-1. Freshman Mohamed Salem (Westlake) won his first collegiate match with a 6-3 decision. Russo won his second match of the day by decision, 7-4. Sebek also won by decision with a 13-6 victory against David Bernholt. Feador defeated Nathan Klingensmith, 5-1, and Kmetz won by major decision with a score of 11-0 as the Yellow Jackets went on to win by the score of 23-18.
In the match against the College of Mount St. Joseph, freshman Brian Bucher (Toledo) won his 133-pound match by technical fall with a score of 24-8. Also adding victories for B-W were Russo with a 7-3 decision against MSJ's Jason Ashworth, Feador won by forfeit, Sebek won by decision with a score of 4-3 and Kmetz also won by decision with a score 11-4.
B-W, now 2-1 to start the season, will be in action Saturday, November 19, at 9:00 a.m. at the Olivet (Mich.) College Duals.
