Yellow Jacket Wrestlers End Regular Season Competition By Defeating Case Western Reserve, 30-20
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College wrestling team defeated Case Western Reserve University, 30-20, in the Ursprung Gynasium in Berea, (Feb. 22). With the win, the Yellow Jackets end the season with an 8-6 overall and a 2-4 OAC mark.
Highlighting the match was freshman 157-pounder Phillip Peak (Collinsville, Okla.), with a pin over Chris Painter (CWRU) in 2:31. Also, freshman 174-pounder Roger Roman (Wooster/ Northwestern) had a major decision over Mike Morgan (CWRU), 14-3. Tonight's match results are below. The Yellow Jackets also had wins from seniors Greg Hartlaub (Avon Lake/St. Edward) and Jeff Varney (Chagrin Falls/Kentson). Hartlaub defeated John Mayer (CWRU), 17-2 and Varney defeated Mike Huang (CWRU), 7-1. Hartlaub, Varney and Brian Tipka (New Philadelphia) were honored tonight for wrestling senior's night.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Saturday, February 29 when they participate in the OAC Winterfest Wrestling Championships at Baldwin-Wallace. The first round begins at 9:00 a.m.
