BEREA, OHIO-- The Yellow Jacket wrestlers were defeated by cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University today (Feb. 21) in a 31-14 dual match.
With the loss the Jackets fall to 6-7 on the season and remain 3-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Spartans improve their record to 7-4 with the victory.
Despite the loss, sophomore Jared Selover (Wapakoneta) won his 133-pound match by pinning Tom Chambers in a time of 4:25. Senior Sayre Wuhr (Hudson) defeated his 141-pound opponent by a technical fall with a score of 6-0 and sophomore heavyweight Bryan Kmetz (Brunswick) won his match by a decision of 5-1 over CWRU's Ray Rowe.
On the season, Selover improves his overall record to 9-2. Wuhr and Kmetz improve their individual records to 23-7 and 26-4 respectively.
The Jackets will be back in action next Saturday, Feb. 28 when they travel to John Carroll University for the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships starting at 10 a.m.
