Baldwin-Wallace College Wrestling Team Defeats Thiel (Pa.) College, 27-9, in Berea
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College wrestling team defeated nonconference foe Thiel (Pa.) College, 27-9, tonight (Saturday, January 19, 2007) in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea.
With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 6-16-1 overall and with the loss, Thiel drops to 6-3 overall.
Seven Yellow Jackets earned individual victories tonight against the Tomcats. Freshman 125-pounder Tyler Erwin (Granville/Watkins Memorial) won by forfeit, junior 133-pounder Brian Bucher (Ottawa Hills/Avon Lake) won by a 7-6 decision over Jeff Langdon, sophomore 141-pounder Eric Schubert (Oberlin) defeated Tucker Velez, 7-4, junior 157-pounder Joe Incorvaia (Medina/Highland) defeated Lee Beatty, 7-1, freshman 165-pounder Korey Leonhard (Kinsman/Pymatuning Valley) scored a 9-7 win over Matthew Morrell, senior 174-pounder Jeremy Feador (North Olmsted) defeated Jordan Gaudette, 7-5 and freshman 197-pounder Andrew Scavuzzo (Cuyahoga Falls/Woodridge) capped off the B-W wins by pinning Bryan Pleskovich of Thiel in 6:51.
B-W returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 22 when it travels to Ada, Ohio to face OAC rival Ohio Northern University at 7:30 p.m. in the ONU Sports Center. Then, on Tuesday, Jan. 29, B-W hosts OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University at 7:30 p.m. B-W fans also are reminded that the 22nd Annual John Summa Memorial Tournament is on Saturday, February 2 and begins at 10:00 a.m.
