BEREA, OHIO —  The Baldwin-Wallace College wrestling team fell, 24-9, to Ohio Athletic Conference rival Ohio Northern University tonight (Tuesday, January 22, 2008) in the ONU Sports Center in Ada.

 

With its victory, Ohio Northern improves to 5-7 overall and 3-1 in the OAC.  With its loss, B-W falls to to 6-17-1 overall and 1-3 in the OAC and next wrestles on Tuesday, Jan. 29 when it hosts OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University at 7:30 p.m. in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium.

 

Despite the loss, three Yellow Jackets earned wins.  Junior 133-pounder Brian Bucher (Ottawa Hills/Avon Lake) won a 10-8 decision over Jeff Penny, freshman 174-pounder Andrew Scavuzzo (Cuyahoga Falls/Woodridge) earned a 7-1 decision over Drew Swick, and senior 184-pounder Brian Haines (Amanda/Teays Valley) recorded a 13-8 decision over Drew Michel.  With their wins, Bucher improved to 19-5 overall, Scavuzzo improved to 17-12, and Haines improved to 8-11.

 

In exhibition matches, senior 157-pounder RayShawn Eatmon (East Cleveland Shaw) defeated John Jacobs, 4-2, in sudden victory and senior 174-pounder Antonio Campea (Hinckley/Parma Padua Franciscan) won a 7-4 decision over Colin Swick.

 

Following its match next Tuesday (Jan. 29) versus John Carroll, B-W will host the 22nd Annual John Summa Memorial Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 2.  The tournament gets underway at 10:00 a.m. in the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.
