Heidelberg College Defeats Baldwin-Wallace College, 28-12, in OAC Dual Meet in Tiffin
BEREA, OHIO -- The Heidelberg College Student Princes defeated the Baldwin-Wallace College Yellow Jackets, 28-12, in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet tonight (Tuesday, January 8, 2008) in Seiberling Gymnasium in Tiffin.
With its win, Heidelberg improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the OAC while B-W fell to 4-12-1 overall and 1-1 in the OAC.
Despite the loss for the Yellow Jackets, junior 133-pounder Brian Bucher (Ottawa/Avon Lake) won by a 8-4 decision, senior 165-pound Division III All-American Gino Russo (Northfield Center/Macedonia Nordonia) won a 9-4 decision, senior 174-pounder Jeremy Feador (North Olmsted) won a 3-2 decision and freshman 184-pounder Andrew Scavuzzo (Cuyahoga Falls/Woodridge) won a 2-1 decision
With his victory at 165 pounds, Russo, ranked second in the latest NWCA (National Wrestling Coaches Association) poll at his weight class, improved to a perfect 18-0 overall. A year ago, Russo placed sixth at the NCAA Division III National Tournament and was the Ohio Athletic Conference 165-pound champion. Bucher’s win improved his seasonal mark to 13-4. With his win, Feador is now 9-7. Scavuzzo is now 14-8 overall, including 9-6 slate at 184 pounds.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 11-12 when they travel to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to compete at the annual Dud Whitehill Duals at Lycoming College. Next Tuesday, Jan. 15, B-W host Mount Union College in an OAC dual meet in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea.
