BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College wrestling team had a 1-1 record on the second day of the 2007 Budd Whitehill Dual Championships at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Yellow Jackets finished the championships with a 2-2 mark. The Yellow Jackets are now 10-8 overall and return to Ohio Athletic Conference action when they travel to University Heights to wrestle crosstown rival John Carroll University at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 16 at the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.
In its first match, B-W lost to Springfield (Mass.) College, 28-14. Despite the loss, sophomore 133-pounder Brian Bucher (Ottawa Hills/Avon Lake), junior 165-pounder Gino Russo (Northfield Center/Nordonia) and senior 285-pounder Bryan Kmetz (Brunswick) all won. Bucher won by forfeit, Russo won a 3-2 decision and Kmetz won by a pin in 4:35.
In its second match, B-W defeated number eight ranked Lycoming (Pa.) College 24-23. Leading the Yellow Jackets to their victory was junior 174-pounder Jeremy Feador (North Olmsted) with a pin over Waycaster in 2:27 and senior 285-pounder Kmetz pinning Ostrowski in 3:40 to seal the team victory by one point. Also earning wins were sophomore 157-pounder Joseph Incorvaia (Medina/ Highland) with a 1-0 decision, junior 174-pounder Russo in a 7-4 decision and freshman 125-pounder Eric Schubert (Oberlin) won by forfeit.
