BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College wrestling team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival Ohio Northern University, 28-15, tonight (Tuesday, January 9, 2007) in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in The Lou Higgins Center in Berea.
With its victory, the Yellow Jackets improve to 8-6 overall and 2-1 in the OAC while ONU fell to 5-7 overall and 1-2 in the OAC.
Leading the way for B-W was junior 141-pounder Chris Hamed (Stow/ Woodridge) who pinned ONU freshman Cy Stephens in 1:54. Also earning wins for the Yellow Jackets was sophomore 149-pounder Mo Salem (Westlake) with a major decision over sophomore Lance Hassell, 17-7, junior 165-pounder Gino Russo (Northfield Center/ Nordonia) defeated senior Jay Salge 10-5, junior 184-pounder Antonio Campea (Hinckley/ Parma Padua) earned a major decision over freshman Stuart Fisher, 16-5 and senior 285-pounder Bryan Kmetz (Brunswick) won by technical fall over junior Adam Kosch in the second period of the match.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action this Friday and Saturday, January 12-13 when they travel to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to compete at the annual Bud Whitehall Duals at Lycoming College. Next Tuesday, Jan. 20, B-W travels to OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University for its next league dual match.
