BEREA, OHIO—The Baldwin-Wallace College wrestling team had a 1-3 record (Friday and Saturday, January 13-14) at the Annual Budd Whitehall Division III Dual Match Championships at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

In its four matches, B-W lost to third-seeded York (Pa.) College; then was also defeated by seventh-seed Oswego State (N.Y.) University in the first round. On day two, B-W defeated OAC-rival Muskingum College, 38-9; then lost to Rhode Island College, 23-15.

Individually, B-W was led by seniors 285-pounder Bryan Kmetz (Brunswick) and 174-pounder Sterling Sebek (Columbus, Ga./ Brookstone) along with sophomore 157-pounder Gino Russo (Northfield Center/ Nordonia) who each finished the invitational with a perfect 4-0 record. Junor 165-pounder T. Terry (Bedford/ St. Peter Chanel) posted a 2-1 mark.

In its first round loss to York, Russo won his 157-pound match by deceision against Garrett Faulkner by the score of 13-8. Harrold defeated Dave Sterner by the score of 7-0. Sebek won his match by decision against Steve Johnson and Kmetz rounded out the B-W winners with a 6-0 decision against Luke Panizzi.

In the second round Baldwin-Wallace lost to Oswego N.Y., 30-17. Despite the loss Sebek won his 174-pound match with a pin in a time of 6:34. In addition, Russo won by major decision with a score of 24-11 and Kmetz also won by major decision with a score of 12-2. Terry won his individual match by decision, 10-6, against Chuck Guttilla.

In its win against Muskingum, Bucher won his 133-pound match by technical fall against Jeremy Hudson, 17-0. Kmetz also defeated his oponnent by technical fall, 15-0, in his 285-pound match. Russo defeated T.J. Brown by major decision with the score of 13-5. Terry and Sebek won both of their matches by decision rounding out the B-W winners.

Despite the loss to Rhode Island, Kmetz won his fourth match in two days with a pin against Andrew Algarin in a time of 4:03. Russo defeated Luis Feliz by decision, 13-8. Sebek also won by decision against Nick Logan, 8-2, and freshman 157-pounder Joseph Incorvaia (Medina/ Highland) won his match decision, 6-0.

The Yellow jackets are back in action next Saturday, Jan. 21 when they host Thiel College of Pennsylvania in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m.
