BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College Yellow Jacket wrestling team has been selected by the Ohio Athletic Conference Coaches to place fourth in during the OAC Dual Match season and fourth at the annual OAC Tournament in late February. To view the entire OAC Coaches polls, please click here.
The Yellow Jackets are coming off an outstanding 2002-2003 season in which they had an 8-6 overall dual match record, placed second at the OAC Tournament and sent three grapplers to the 2003 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet.
This winter, veteran Head Coach Rich Fleming has his largest squad in 17 years in the wrestling room, including national qualifiers in sophomore 125-pounder Jared Selover (Wapakoneta) and senior 165-pounder Joe Heiland (Shelby). A year ago, Selover had an outstanding 35-8 record, was named as the OAC John Summa Award winner (the OAC Most Valuable Wrestler) and placed fourth at the Division III National Tournament. Heiland, who missed most of his freshman and sophomore seasons due to injuries, came back last winter to post a 32-7 mark, win an OAC title and earn an NCAA Championships berth.
The Yellow Jackets open the 2003-2004 season this Saturday, November 22, when they host their annual Tri-Meet and will compete against Cleveland cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University and Waynesburg (Pa.) College. The first match begins at noon (12:00 p.m. EST) in the B-W Recreation Center and Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium.
