Baldwin-Wallace College Wrestlers Joe Heiland and Devin Carman Compete This

Weekend at the NCAA Division III National Tourney

BEREA, OHIO — Two Baldwin-Wallace College wrestlers, senior 165-pounder Joe Heiland (Shelby) and junior 197-pounder Devin Carman (Ashtabula/ Geneva), will compete at the 2005 NCAA Division III National Wrestling Championships on Friday and Saturday, March 4-5 at St. Olaf, Minnesota College. It is Heiland's second trip to the national tourney and Carman's first.

Heiland, an education and history major who would like to teach and coach, won his second Ohio Athletic Conference165-pound title and earned his second berth at the national tourney. He will take a 75-23 career record into the national tourney. Heiland enters the national tourney with a 13-5 record this year. He missed the first two months of the season after having surgery for an injury he suffered a year ago.

As a sophomore in 2003, Heiland won the OAC 165-pound crown and advanced to the national tourney. Unfortunately, an injury in the first 10 seconds of his first match ended his national title hopes.

Carman, a junior education and history major, will enter the tournament with a team-best 26-3 overall record and a 60-13 career mark after winning the OAC title at 197 pounds last weekend.
