The Baldwin-Wallace College Women's Golf Team Finishes Fifth of Eight

Schools at the Annual Ohio Cup in Columbus

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women’s golf team finished fifth of eight teams at the Annual Ohio Cup Tournament hosted by Ohio Dominican University at the Cumberland Trails Golf Course in Columbus.

In the Ohio Cup, the format of the first nine holes consists of a one-person 9-hole stroke play match, a two-person scramble match and a two-person alternate shot match. The second nine holes are played in match play format.

In the one-person stroke play match, senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference player Lauren Buckner (Westlake) shot a 48 on the par-70, 5,919-yard Cumberland Trails layout. In the alternating shot match, junior All-OAC player Sarah Hacker (New Albany, Indiana/ Our Lady of Providence) teammed with sophomore All-OAC player Molly Scheetz (Canton/ Perry) to shoot a 46. In the scramble match, freshmen Lydia Cole (East Canton) and Simone Short (Toledo/ Whitmer) carded a 42.

In the match play rounds, Scheetz won her match 4 up through six holes, Buckner won three up through seven holes and Hacker won one up through nine. On the losing end, Cole was two down through eight holes and Short was three down through six.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action tomorrow hen they stay in the Greater Columbus area and play in the first day of the two-day and 36-hole Otterbein College Invitational Tournament. The first day (April 9) will be played at the Little Turtle Golf Course in Westerville and the second day (April 10) will be at the New Albany Links Golf Course in New Albany, Ohio. Teams tee off at 10:00 a.m.
