The Baldwin-Wallace College Women's Golf Team Finishes Fourth at the Capital
University Purple and White Invitational
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women’s golf team finished fourth of 11 teams at the Annual Capital University Purple and White Invitational at the Foxfire Golf Club in Lockbourne, Ohio. This was the second spring tournament for the Yellow Jackets.
The Yellow Jackets totalled 781 strokes overall. B-W had 396 strokes on the first day (Friday, March 31) and had a 385-stroke total on the second day (Saturday, April 1). Defending champion St. Mary's (Ind.) College won the title again.
B-W was led by jumior All-Ohio Athletic Conference player Sarah Hacker (New Albany, Ind./ Our Lady of Providence) with scores of 95 on the first day and 88 on the second day for a 183-stroke total to place in a tie for 11th individually of a tournament-record 76 golfers. Sophomore All-OAC player Molly Scheetz (Canton/ Perry) had rounds of 99 and 88 for a 187 total and tied for 17th individually and rounded out B-W's Top 20 participants.
In addition, senior All-OAC player Lauren Buckner (Westlake/ Senior) had rounds of 103 and 101 for a 204 total to place in a tie for 34th, freshman Lydia Cole (East Canton) had rounds of 99 and 108 for a two-day, 36-hole total of 207 strokes to place 38th, and freshman Simone Short (Toledo/ Whitmer) carded rounds of 109 and 109 for a two-day total of 218 strokes and was 45th.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in Columbus next Saturday, April 8 when they will play at the Annual Ohio Cup Tournament that is being hosted by Ohio Dominican University.
