Sean Strickland is in his second year as Head Women’s Golf Coach and Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach in 2009-2010.
Strickland, who earned a master’s degree in sport management from Slippery Rock (Pa.) University and is a 1993 graduate of Pennsylvania State University, spent five years as the Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at Slippery Rock High School in Pennsylvania. He developed five collegiate basketball players during his tenure and led his team to 15 wins and a playoff appearance in his final season.
Strickland began his coaching career at Monaca (Pa.) High School from 1997 through 2000 before moving on to the Community College of Beaver County (Pa.) where he was a volunteer Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach during the 2000-2001 academic year. Strickland also coached at Mt. Pleasant Area (Pa.) High School from 2001 to 2003 where he served as Assistant Varsity Football Coach and Defensive Coordinator.
Professionally, Strickland has been District Manager for Primerica Financial Services and served as Interim Athletic Director at Slippery Rock High School in 2008. He also has previously held positions as an operations analyst for FedEx Ground (1997-2002) and logistics manager and production supervisior for Pepsi Cola Company (1994-1997).
Strickland, a Henrietta, New York native, was a student-athlete in college and played basketball at Penn State-Beaver University where he scored more than 1,000 points in two years. He also was a Conference All-Star, served as a team captain and left as the school’s record-holder in single-game points scored, assists and three-point field goals. A 1989 graduate of Rush-Henrietta (N.Y.) High School, Strickland lettered in both basketball and golf and was an All-County and All-Greater Rochester selection as a senior in basketball.
