Women's Golfers Finish Third at Otterbein Fall Invitational
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's golf team placed third of six teams at the 2007 Otterbein College Fall Invitational Tournament today (Saturday, October 6) at the Table Rock Golf Course in Centerburg. This was the fourth of five fall tournaments for the Yellow Jackets.
B-W carded a team round of 374 strokes on the par-72 and 5,839-yard Table Rock layout and finished ahead of Mount Union College (375), Wilmington College (396) and Muskingum College (408). B-W trailed team champion and host Otterbein and second place Ohio Valley University.
Leading the way for B-W was senior three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference player and two-time National Golf Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete recipient Molly Scheetz (Canton/ Perry), who carded a round of 89 strokes. She was followed by junior Lydia Cole (East Canton) and junior Simone Short (Toledo/ Whitmer) with 94's, sophomore Kellie Ross (Warrensville Heights) with a 97 and junior Karli Townsend (Malvern) with a 102. In addition and playing as individuals, freshman Sam Migalski (Monahawkin, N.J. (Southern Regional) shot a 107 and freshman Nicole Carlone (North Canton/ Hoover) had a 124.
The Yellow Jackets will end their 2007 Fall season on Saturday and Sunday, October 13-14 at the John Carroll University Fall Invitational Tournament at the Fowlers Mills Golf Club in Chesterland. The season will then resume next spring when B-W will play in five or six more tournaments, including the 2008 OAC Championship Tournament with an NCAA Division III National Tournament berth in the line.
