The Baldwin-Wallace Women's Golf Team Tied for Third at the Ohio Cup
Invitational that B-W Hosted at Pine Hills
BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin-Wallace College women's golf team tied for third of eight teams at the annual Ohio Cup Invitational Tournament played at the Pine Hills Golf Club (Par 72; 5,843-yards) in Hinckley, Ohio. This was the third tournament of the spring season for the Yellow Jackets.
The scoring system for this tournament is a "Rider Cup" match play format. Each team competes with six players. Two players from each team play nine holes with an alternating ball, two players play nine holes of best ball and two players play nine holes of stroke play.
For the alternating ball portion of the tournament, Yellow Jacket sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference player Sara Hacker (New Albany, Indiana/ Our Lady of Providence) and junior two-time All-OAC standout Lauren Buckner (Westlake) paired up to place fourth with a nine-hole total of 49 total strokes. Junior All-OAC Emily Scheetz (Massillon/Perry) partnered with her sister, freshman Molly Scheetz (Massillon/Perry), to tie for first in the best-ball portion of the tournament. In the stroke play competition, sophomore Kelly Gallaway (Ashland/ Senior) claimed second place with a nine hole total of 51 strokes and senior Mary Farrell (Middleburg Heights/ Parma Heights Holy Name) carded a 69 to place fourth.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action when they play at the annual Mt. Union College Invitational at the Pleasant View Golf Club in Alliance, Ohio on April 10- 11. There is a shotgun start on Sunday, April 10 at 10:00 a.m. and tee off times begin at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, April 11.
