Wisconsin Oshkosh at the Rockford (Ill.) Tourney
BEREA, OHIO — The Baldwin-Wallace College women's basketball team lost 74-59 today (Dec. 29) to third-ranked Wisconsin Oshkosh in the first round of the Rockford College Tournament in Rockford, Illinois.
With its loss, B-W fell to 6-4 overall and its third straight game to a nationally-ranked opponent. The Yellow Jackets will face the loser of the host Rockford and Fransiscan (Iowa) game at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday (Dec. 30). Wisconsin-Oshkosh improved to a perfect 12-0.
In the first half, the two teams traded leads for the first 10 minutes before B-W led by as many as seven points on two separate occassions with the last one being at 31-24 with 2:37 left before halftime when sophomore forward Michelle White (Hudson) scored on a three-point play. The Titans then scored the next seven points to tie the score at 31-31 with 44 seconds remaining. A Jenn Neal (Mentor) three-point play wth 25 seconds left in the first stanza gave B-W a 34-31 lead at the intermission.
In the second half, there were two ties and three lead changes in the first 10 minutes with the final one coming on a three-pointer from junior guard Kelly O'Keef to give the Titans a 52-49 advantage just before the 10 minute mark. UW-Oshkosh would not trail the remainder of the contest as they went on to win by 15, its biggest lead of the game, 74-59.
Baldwin-Wallace was led by White with 12 points. Junior forward Jessica Latimer (Brooklyn) grabbed a game-high eight rebounds and scored four points. Neal and White each had six boards.
UW Oshkosh was led by junior forward Brittany Herrick with a game-high 17 points. Junior guard Shannon Eggers and senior guard Michelle Rosicky chipped in with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Herrick also had a team-high seven rebounds.
Following its appearance in tomorrow's consolation game, the Yellow Jackets return to Ohio Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, January 5 when they travel to Alliance and play OAC-rival Mount Union College at the Timken Physical Education Center at 7:30 p.m.

In B-W's Last Game on December 20, 2004 versus Albion College in Albion, Michigan: Baldwin-Wallace -- 62, Albion -- 67 -- The Yellow Jackets lost their second straight game and dropped to 6-3 overall with a 67-62 loss to host Albion College of Michigan on December 20, 2004 at the Kresge Gymnasium in Albion. Despite the loss, sophomore guard Steffani Jaworski came off the bench to lead the way and score a career and team-high 19 points. Jaworski canned seven-of-11 shots from the floor and made four-of-six three-pointers. The key in the game was Albion outrebounding B-W, 51-34, including 18-12 on the offensive end of the court.
In Wisconsin Oshkosh's Last Game on December 22 versus St. Norbert College in New Orleans, Louisiana -- No details are available from either UW-Oshkosh's Dec. 20 game versus Eastern (Pa.) University or its December 22 game versus St. Norbert (Wisc.) College in New Orleans, Louisiana. Apparantly the host school (Xavier University of La.) did not keep statistics at its tournament.

OAC Titles and NCAA Excellence --- Last winter, the Yellow Jacket women's basketball team won its fourth OAC regular season title in the past six years. B-W also won OAC regular season and OAC Tournament titles in 1999-2000, 2000-2001 and 2001-2002. The Yellow Jackets have also advanced to the NCAA Division III National Tournament in seven of the last nine years, including in 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 when it advanced to the "Elite Eight" each year.
Eight Straight 20-Win Seasons -- The Yellow Jackets have eight straight 20-win season.
Cheri Harrer is the Winningest Women's Coach in B-W History -- Yellow Jacket veteran Head Coach Cheri Harrer is the winningest women's basketball coach in B-W history with 284 victories. Harrer is 284-111 in her career with a .718 winning percentage in 15 seasons at B-W.
