Baldwin-Wallace College Women Defeat Oberlin, 78-45, to Finish Third at the

Greater Cleveland College Tip-Off Tourney at NDCO

BEREA, OHIO — Freshman forward Cara Shiplett (Canal Fulton/ Northwest) scored a team-high 16 points today (Nov. 20, 2004) as Baldwin-Wallace College defeated traditional rival Oberlin College, 78-45, in the consolation game of the annual Greater Cleveland College Tip-Off Tournament that is being played at Notre Dame College of Ohio in South Euclid.

The Yellow Jackets, 1-1 overall, led by as many as 11 points on four separate occassions in the first half with the last one being at 21-10 with 7:44 left before halftime when junior center Lindsay Mamula (Canton/ Jackson) scored on a jumper. B-W also led 30-22 at the intermission. In the second half, B-W outscored Oberlin, 48-24. The Jackets' largest lead was 35 points, at 76-41 with 1:31 left in the game, when freshman guard Jessica Diaz (Amherst/ Marion Steele) scored on a jumper.

In addition to Shiplett, B-W also placed sophomore forward Michelle White (Hudson) and freshman forward Carly Flowers (North Baltimore) each scored in double figures with 10 points apiece. White topped the Yellow Jackets in rebounds with eight.

Oberlin, 0-2 overall, was led by Nicole Burford with a game-high 19 points and Jessica Oram tallied 14 markers.

B-W will be back in action on Tuesday, November 23, when it travels to Springfield and will play at rival Wittenberg University at 7:00 p.m. That game can be heard locally on B-W campus radio station WBWC, 88.3 FM, or via the College InterNet Web Site at www.bw.edu/athletics.
