Fifth-Ranked Baldwin-Wallace Women Beat Oberlin, 107-39, in Berea

BEREA, OHIO -- Junior forward Carly Flowers (North Baltimore) scored 12 first half points tonight (Wednesday, November 29, 2006) as the fifth-ranked Baldwin-Wallace College women's basketball team defeated visiting Oberlin College, 107-39, in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea.
 
The win was B-W's second straight and improved its record to 3-1 overall. The Yellow Jackets open 2006-2007 Ohio Athletic Conference play this Saturday when it faces 25th-ranked Capital University at home at 3:00 p.m.  With its loss, Oberlin fell to 2-2 and ended a two-game win streak.
 
In addition to Flowers, junior guard Selena Eskinazi-Budge (Beachwood) had 12 points, senior guard Steffani Jaworski (Parma/Padua) had 11 and sophomore guard Amanda Mondrach (Parma/Parma Heights Holy Name), freshman guard Sandra Busser (Parma/Padua) and freshman center Paige Watson (Carey) each had 10.  The Yeowomen were led in scoring by senior center Jessie Oram with 17 points.
 
In the first half, the Yellow Jackets raced out to a 7-2 lead at the 17:11 mark when Jaworski canned a three-pointer. B-W increased its lead to 18-10 at the 11:53 mark when Flowers made the second of two free throws. Oberlin then closed to within 18-13 at the 11:28 mark when sophomore Alyssa Clark canned a three-pointer. After that, it was all B-W as the Yellow Jackets outscored the Yeowomen, 28-4 the remainder of the half to lead 46-17 at the intermission.
 
In the second half, the Yellow Jackets extended their lead to as many as 68 points when freshman forward Serena Farage (Medina/Buckeye) canned a three-pointer at the buzzer.
