BEREA, OHIO -- Junior forward Carly Flowers (North Baltimore) scored a career-high 24 points as the third-ranked Baldwin-Wallace College women's basketball team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival Muskingum College, 90-64 today (Saturday, January 6, 2007) in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea. The win kept B-W in first place in the OAC.
The win was B-W's 11th straight and 11th in a row versus the Fighting Muskies. With its victory, B-W, ranked third nationally by the WBCA (Women's Basketball Coaches Association)/ USA TODAY Division III Top-25, is now 12-1 overall and a perfect 6-0 in the OAC. With its loss,Muskingum fell to 3-10 overall and 1-5 in the OAC.
In addition to Flowers, sophomore guard Amanda Mondrach (Parma/Parma Hts. Holy Name) and senior guard Michelle White (Hudson) each scored 13 points for the Yellow Jackets. Muskingum was led by sophomore forward Jessica McKenzie with 19 points and six rebounds.
In the first half, B-W jumped out to an early 11-6 lead at the 17:10 mark when White stole a Muskingum pass and dished the ball to Flowers for an easy jumper. The Yellow Jackets extended their lead to as many as 17 points in the first half, with that lead coming off a White three-pointer at the 7:32 mark to make the score 37-20. B-W took a 48-32 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
In the second half, B-W again came out strong. Their biggest lead of the half came at the 00:36 mark when junior guard Selena Eskinazi-Budge (Beachwood) made a three-pointer to give the Yellow Jackets a 26 point advantage and the final score of 90-64. B-W never lead by less than 17 points in the half.
The Yellow Jacket women next play on Wednesday, Jan. 10 when they travel to Westerville, Ohio to play OAC rival Otterbein College in the Rike Center at 7:30 p.m.

Current National Rankings -- B-W was ranked third in the last WBCA (Women's Basketball Coaches Association) Division III poll and eighth in the d3hoops.com poll. The "OFFICIAL" Division III Great Lakes Region poll, which is selected by the NCAA Selection Committee does not come out until mid-to-late January, 2007.
