BEREA, OHIO -- Sophomore guard Amanda Mondrach (Parma/Holy Name) scored a season-high 20 points tonight (Wednesday, January 24, 2007) as the 15th-ranked Baldwin-Wallace College women's basketball team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference arch-rival Mount Union College, 68-52, in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea.
With its win, B-W is 15-3 overall and 9-2 in the OAC and has beaten the Purple Raiders nine straight times dating back to the 2002-2003 season. Mt. Union fell to 9-9 overall and 5-6 in the OAC and ended a three-game winning streak.
In addition to Mondrach for the Yellow Jackets, sophomore guard Jessica Butzer (Orrville) scored 10 points. Mount Union was led by junior center Alicia Williams with 11 points.
In the first half, trailing 14-12 the Yellow Jackets went on a 30-12 run to take their biggest lead of the half of 16 points when sophomore guard Leah Mottayaw (Mansfield/Madison) hit a three-pointer at the 2:27 mark and B-W lead 42-26. Then Williams scored the final four points of the half for the Purple Raiders and B-W led 42-30 at halftime.
In the second half, B-W would push their lead out to 18 points as they led 51-33 when junior guard Selena Eskinazi-Budge (Beechwood) hit a jumper at the 15:14 mark. Mount Union then would get as close as 13 points when Williams hit a jumper at the 10:53 mark to cut the score to 55-42. Junior forward Stacia Shrider (Marietta/Warren Local) scored a layup at the 6:10 mark to give the Yellow Jackets their biggest lead of the game at 19 points and led 65-49.
The Yellow Jacket women next play on Saturday, January 27 when they travel to Ada, Ohio to play OAC rival Ohio Northern University in thev ONU Sports Center at 3:00 p.m.

Williams lead the team in scoring with 13.8 ppg. and grabs 7.8 rpg. She also leads the team in blocked shots with 12. Friedrich is second in scoring with 12.1 ppg. and grabs 4.5 rpg. and leads the team with 23 three-pointers. Drayer averages 7.7 ppg. and shoots 94.1 percent from the freethrow line (16-of- 17 attempts). Ross scores 5.6 ppg. and second on the team in rebounding with 6.1 rpg. and has 21 steals and 11 blocks. In addition, Selena Eskinazi-Budge had 16 points, including a gametying three-pointer with six seconds left in regulation. Carly Flowers also had 11 points. Capital was led by Caitlin Graessle's career-high points. Capital outscored B-W 14-6 in the extra session.
In Mount Union's Last Game versus Muskingum on January 20 in Alliance, Ohio: MUC -- 69, Muskingum -- 54-- In Mount Union's last game, a 69-54 victory versus Muskingum College in Alliance last Saturday, the Raiders were led in scoring by Lauren Friedrich with 20 points and seven rebounds. In addition, Alicia Williams had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Ashley Ross also had 11 points along with eight rebounds. Key to the victory included the tight defense by the Purple Raiders and allowed Muskngum to shoot just 29.8 percent from the field.
