BEREA, OHIO -- Junior forward Carly Flowers (North Baltimore) scored 15 points as the 22nd-ranked Baldwin-Wallace College women's basketball team defeated Heidelberg College, 66-58 in overtime, tonight (Wednesday, January 31, 2007) in the Seiberling Gymnasiuym in Tiffin.
With its win, B-W is now 16-4 overall and 10-3 in the OAC and have beaten the Student Princes nine straight times dating back to January 20, 2004. Heidelberg is now 10-10 overall and 3-10 in the OAC and have lost five straight games.
In addition to Flowers, senior forward Michelle White (Hudson) had 10 points. Junior forward Stacia Shrider (Marietta/Warren Local) also had a team-high 11 rebounds for B-W. Heidelberg was led by junior guard Maureen Hunter with a game-high 21 points and junior guard Amanda Campbell had 13 points and 13 rebounds.
In the first half, the Student Princes built an early 8-3 lead before the Yellow Jackets outscored them 7-0 to take a 10-8 lead at the 12:27 mark when senior guard Steffani Jaworski (Parma/Padua) made a three-pointer. B-W built its lead to seven points at 17-10 with 9:19 left when Flowers made two foul shots. Heidelberg then closed to within 17-15 before B-W went on a 6-0 run to lead by eight points at 23-15 with 5:30 left when Flowers made a jump shot. B-W also led at halftime, 31-25.
In the second half, B-W regained its eight-point advantage at 33-25 when Flowers opneed the half by making a jumper and increased it to as many as 10 points on two separate occassions with the last being at 47-37 with 5:17 left in regulation when junior forward Jessica Latimer (Brooklyn) made a foul shot. Heidelberg then outscored B-W 16-6 the remainder of regulation to tie the score at 53-53 with one second left when Hunter canned a triple.
In overtime, B-W outscored Heidelberg 13-5 and led throughout to earn its victory. The closest the Student Princes got to the Jackets' in the extra session was four points at 62-58 with 15 seconds left when freshman guard Stacey Barker scored on a layup.
The Yellow Jacket women next play on Saturday, January 31 when they host fourth-ranked and OAC-leader Wilmington College in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium at 3:00 p.m.

Scouting the Heidelberg College Student Princes -- Look for Head Coach Karen McConnell to start 5'6" junior Amanda Campbell, 5'10 junior Mareen Hunter and 5'8 sophomore Brittany Skolnicki at the guard positions, and 5'9" senior Kyle Davison and 6'0" forward Stacey Richard on the inside. Campbell leads the team with both points and rebounds with 13.6 ppg. and 6.8 rpg. She also leads the team with 42 steals and is second with 36 assists. Skolnicki is second on the team in scoring and rebounds averaging, 13.2 ppg. and 4.4 rpg., and shoots 72 percent from the free-throw line (42-of-58). Hunter is third in scoring with 7.0 ppg, second in steals with 30 and leads the team with 11 blocks and 49 assists. Davison scores 6.5 ppg. grabs 3.3 rpg.
