BEREA, OHIO -- Junior forward Carly Flowers (North Baltimore) scored a team-high 12 points as the 12th-ranked Baldwin-Wallace College women's basketball team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival Heidelberg College, 74-50 tonight (Tuesday, January 16, 2007) in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea. It was B-W's (14-2 overall and 8-1 in the OAC) eighth straight victory against the Student Princes (10-6, 3-6).
In addition to Flowers for the Yellow Jackets, senior forward Michelle White (Hudson) and junior guard Selena Eskinazi-Budge (Beachwood) each had 10 points. Heidelberg was led by sophomore guard Brittany Skolnicki with 13 points.
In the first half, the Yellow Jackets jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead at the 17:49 mark when Flowers made a jump shot. Heidelberg then closed the gap to five points at 9-4 at the 14:32 mark before B-W outscored the Student Princes 28-14 to build its largest lead of the first stanza to 19 points at 37-18 when senior guard Steffani Jaworski (Parma/Padua) made a three-pointer with one second left before the intermission. In the second half, B-W built its largest lead of the game at 30 points at 75-45 at the 10:45 mark when senior forward Jessica Latimer (Brooklyn) scored on a layup.
The Yellow Jacket women next play on Saturday, January 20 when they travel to Columbus to play OAC arch-rival Capital University at 3:00 p.m. in the Capital Center.

Jaworski averages 4.1 ppg. and is tied for first with 10 three-pointers. Shrider scores 6.7 ppg., leads the team with 6.2 rpg. and has 29 assists and 25 steals. Scouting the Heidelberg College Student Princes -- Look for Head Coach Karen McConnell to start 5'6" junior Amanda Campbell, 5'10 junior Mareen Hunter and 5'8 sophomore Brittany Skolnicki at the guard positions, and 5'9" senior Kyle Davison and 6'0" forward Stacey Richard on the inside. Campbell leads the team with both points and rebounds with 14.9 ppg. and 7.3 rpg. She also leads the team with 36 steals and is second with 31 assists. Skolnicki is second on the team in scoring and rebounds averaging, 14.1 ppg. and 4.6 rpg., and shoots 74.5 percent from the free-throw line (35-of-47). Hunter is third in scoring with 7.7 ppg, second in steals with 25 and leads the team with 10 blocks and 39 assists. Davison scores 6.4 ppg. with 3.2 rpg. Current National Rankings -- B-W was ranked fourth in the last week's WBCA (Women's Basketball Coaches Association) Division III poll and sixth in the d3hoops.com poll. The "OFFICIAL" Division III Great Lakes Region poll, which is selected by the NCAA Selection Committee does not come out until early February, 2007. The NCAA Selection Committee uses that poll as criterion to decide who gets into the 2007 NCAA Division III National Tournament.
Third "Elite Eight" Appearance in NCAA Tourney in Last Eight Years -- When B-W played in the "Elite Eight" of the 2005-2006 NCAA Division III National Tournament, it marked the thid time in school history and the third time in the past eight years.
