BW Senior Standout Catherine Spisak Selected as a Women's Basketball Academic All-OAC Athlete

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University women’s basketball senior forward Catherine Spisak (Sandusky/ St. Mary Central Catholic) has been selected (Wednesday, March 7, 2012) as an Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference student-athlete.  She was honored for her excellent 3.55 grade point average in sport management and public relations and her exploits on the basketball court.

This is Spisak’s first Academic All-OAC honor. This season, she averaged 4.0 points and a team-leading 8.4 rebounds-per-game for the 17-10 overall Yellow Jackets.  Spisak shot 41 percent from the field on 43-of-105 attempts and shot 73.3% from the foul line on 94-of-128 attempts.  Her best game of the season was when she had a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds in a 70-63 victory versus Heidelberg University on January 14, 2012 and his second with 15 points and 10 rebounds against Wilmington on December 7, 2011.  She also served as a team captain.

For her career, Spisak appeared in 88 games, scored 451 points, grabbed 620 rebounds, passed for 73 assists, made 63 steals and blocked 31 shots.  Her 620 career rebounds ranks ninth all-time in Yellow Jacket history. For her career, she shot 40.6% from the floor on 178-of-438 attempts and 73.5% from the charity stripe on 166-of-226 attempts.

Off the court, Spisak is a Dean’s List student and Jacket Scholar and was involved on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), serving as its president this past year.
