Senior Amanda Schroeder and Freshman Angela Musille Are OAC Players of the Week
BEREA, OHIO – Baldwin-Wallace College senior Amanda Schroeder (Columbus Grove) and freshman Angela Musille (Canton/ GlenOak) are this week’s (December 6, 2010) Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week and Women’s Swimmer of the Week, respectively, for her efforts last weekend. This marks the third time in Schroeder’s career that she has earned the honor, and it is the second time this season for Musille.

Schroeder, a two-time first-team All-OAC player as well as an Academic All-OAC selection, earned her honor for scoring 43 points, grabbing 12 rebounds and making seven steals as the Yellow Jackets defeated Heidelberg University (67-50) and Kenyon College (73-63) last week. She connected on 14-of-21 shots from the floor for 66.7 percent, including 3-of-5 shots from three-point range for 60%, and canned 12-of-14 foul shots for 85.7%. Schroeder also had one assist and two blocked shots for the 5-1 overall Yellow Jackets.
In addition, Schroeder’s 43 points last week now give her 1,072 in her career to rank her eighth on the all-time scoring list.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action this Saturday, Dec. 11 when they travel to Wilmington, Ohio to play the Wilmington College Quakers in the first game of a women’s and then men’s doubleheader at 2:00 p.m. The B-W and Wilmington men meet at 4:00 p.m.
Musille earned her award for winning one event individually, breaking school records in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events and helping the 200-yard medley relay team to a second place finish at the nine-team SUNY-Fredonia Invitational Meet last weekend in Fredonia, New York. On Saturday, Musille set the 100-yard breaststroke record with a 1:08.59 timing and then set the 200-yard breaststroke standard on Sunday with a 2:30.29 timing in the prelims.
The Yellow Jacket swimmers and divers are now idle until their annual winter break trip to the Sunshine State of Florida from December 28 through January 10, 2011.
