Baldwin-Wallace Head Coach Cheri Harrer is OAC Coach of the Year and Six Players Named All-OAC

BEREA, OHIO -- Veteran Baldwin-Wallace College Head Coach Cheri Harrer is the 2008 Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year for the second straight year and for the fourth time in her career. In addition, six Yellow Jacket basketball student-athletes, two men and four women, have been named All-OAC.
 
Harrer, in her 18th season in Berea, has an outstanding 373-128 career record and a .744 winning percentage. She has led seven of her Yellow Jacket teams to OAC regular season titles, including this season; five of her squads to OAC Tournament crowns, including this season; 10 teams to the NCAA Division III National Tournament, including this season; three teams to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament; and 11 of her last 12 teams to 20 or more victories, including this season’s 26-2 overall record.
 
On the women’s All-OAC team, senior guard Selena Eskinazi-Budge (Beachwood) was named to the first-team and junior guards Amanda Mondrach (Parma/ Parma Heights Holy Name) and Rachael Quiring (Brunswick/ Parma Hts. Holy Name) and senior forward Stacia Shrider (Marietta/ Warren Local) all were named to the honoranle mention team. Budge tops the Yellow Jackets in scoring at 11.0 points per game, and with 63 assists and 44 steals, is second with 30 blocked shots and grabs 4.0 rpg. Mondrach, who is an All-OAC pick for the third straight season and was the 2006 Co-Freshman of the Year, is second with 8.4 ppg., grabs 3.3 rpg., tops the team with 30 three-pointers and has 48 assists. Quiring scores 7.0 ppg. and is second with 57 assists. Shrider scores 5.1 ppg. and grabs a team-leading 7.0 rpg.
 
For the men, B-W was represented by senior guard Brendan Schuler (Fairview Park/ Fairview) as a second-team All-OAC choice and sophomore forward Kyle Brown (Strongsville) was an honorable mention choice. Schuler, who earned his third straight All-OAC honor, scored 13.3 ppg., grabbed 2.9 rpg. and was second in the OAC in assists with 146. For his career, Schuler finished 18th all-time in scoring at the College with 1,159 points, third with 484 assists, seventh with 182 three-pointers and 10th with 121 steals. Brown, in his first year at B-W after transferring from Division II Hillsdale (Mich.), led the team and was fifth in the OAC in scoring at 16.4 ppg., grabbed 4.1 rpg. and led the team with 64 three-pointers.
 
The B-W women will host the first two rounds of the 2008 NCAA Division III National Tournament on Friday and Saturday, March 7-8 in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium of the Lou Higgins Center in Berea.  The winner of the B-W versus D’Youville game will play the winner of the Hope (Mich.) College versus Juniata (Pa.) College game in the second round on Saturday, March 8. Game times are yet to be determined.
 
The Yellow Jackets are making their 10th appearance in the NCAA Tournament in the last 13 years, including three Elite Eight finishes. The last time was in 2005-2006 when B-W won the East Region title and advanced to the Elite Eight before losing to eventual national runner-up the University of Scranton (Pa.).
