BEREA, OHIO-- The Yellow Jacket volleyball team lost their last two games of the Wittenberg National Invitational Tournament to two nationally ranked teams in a hard fought battle.
In game one against No. 7 nationally ranked Mount St. Joseph's, B-W lost 3-1. (27-30, 30-27, 23-30, 21-30) Leading the Yellow Jacket's in kills was Cassie Palmer (Greenwich/South Central) with 17, followed by Emily Bowen (Tiffin/Columbian) with 13, and Emily Albanese (Mentor) with 7. Freshman Kim Stoll (Norwalk/St. Paul) led the Yellow Jacket squad in digs with 25, followed by Bowen with 11, and Kari Kuhn (Amherst/Steele) with 10.
In game two against No. 9 nationally ranked St. Thomas, B-W lost 3-1. (22-30, 24-30, 30-25, 24-30) Bowen led the Jackets in kills with 17 kills, followed by Palmer with 13, and Albanese with 11. Senior Angie Elser (Wooster/Northwester) led the Yellow Jackets in set assists with a total of 39. Leading the team in digs was Stohl with 23, followed by Kuhn with 16, Elser with 10, and Bowen and Kerry Helm (Luckey/Eastwood) with 9 respectively.
This Tuesday, October 14th, the Yellow Jackets will travel to Tiffin to play against Ohio Athletic Conference foe Heidelberg College at 7:00 p.m. Next Saturday, October 18, B-W will be at home to play Wilmington College at 1:00 p.m.
