BEREA, OHIO -- The Yellow Jacket volleyball team lost a pair of games to No. 1 NCAA Division III nationally ranked Juniata (Pa.) College 3-0 (30-26, 30-19, 30-22), and to No. 4 Washington (Mo.)University 3-0 (30-19, 30-22, 30-23) on day two of the Wash-U Volleyball Inviational in St. Louis, Missouri.
In game one against Washington University, senior three-time All-OAC and two-time All-Great Lakes Region middle hitter Cassie Palmer (Greenwich/South Central) led the team with eight kills and she also had a team-leading four blocks including three solo blocks. Kim Stoll (Norwalk/St. Paul) had a team-high 15 digs to lead the Yellow Jackets defensively followed closely by fellow teammates Kristin Habegger (Oregon/Clay) and two-time All-OAC and 2002 All-Great Lakes Region outside hitter Emily Bowen (TiffinColumbian) who each had 13 digs. Habegger also had a team-leading 18 set assists.
In the nightcap, Bowen had 12 kills to lead the team followed by Palmer and Laura Leach (Norwalk/Senior) who each added 10 kills. Stoll had a team-high 20 digs for the second straight game. Habegger recorded 30 set assists to lead the Yellow Jackets in the loss.
B-W, now 5-7 overall, will return home to begin Ohio Athletic Conference play agianst Muskingum College on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 7:00 pm at Ursprung Gymnasium.
