B-W Volleyball Sweeps Aurora and Wheaton at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Tournament
BEREA, OHIO – The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team swept a pair of matches on the second day of the 2006 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Tournament in Whitewater, Wis., by defeating both Aurora (Ill.) University and Wheaton (Ill.) College by the score of 3-0.
In the first match of the day, B-W defeated Aurora by the score of 30-20, 30-22 and 30-12. Junior two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference outside hitter Kelsey Hills (Toledo/St. Ursula Academy) led the Yellow Jackets offensively with 13 kills and added 11 defensive digs. Senior Division III All-American setter Angie Camp (Norwalk/St. Paul) contributed 37 set assists for the Jackets. Sophomore All-OAC outside hitter Rachel Selgo (Grand Rapids, Mich./West Catholic) and fellow sophomore, middle hitter Brooke Hinkle (Wellington) each had eight kills. Defensively, junior libero Meggie Marten (Bowling Green/Senior) led the team with 17 digs.
In the second match of the day, B-W won the match in three games from Wheaton by the score of 30-21, 30-24 and 30-24. Selgo led the Yellow Jackets with 11 kills and Camp set the offense up with a match-high 32 set assists. Marten again led the Jackets’ defensive with 21 digs and Hills added another eight digs.
B-W returns to action next weekend, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 8-9, when they host the Eighth Annual Marcia French Memorial Tournament at the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center in Berea. The two-day, eight-team event begins on Friday, Sept. 8 at 3:00 p.m. Action will then resume on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 10:00. B-W is the defending tournament champions.
