The Baldwin-Wallace College Volleyball Team Finished 1-1 at the Wooster Tri-Match

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team defeated The College of Wooster, 3-2, in their first match of the Wooster Tri-Match and lost to Wittenberg University, 3-1, in the second match.

The Yellow Jackets defeated Wooster 30-28, 22-30, 31-29, 24-30, 15-13, and lost to Wittenberg University 30-28, 17-30, 26-30, 23-30. With the split matches, B-W now has an overall record of 12-2 and is 3-0 in the Ohio Athletics Conference. Wooster fell to 7-7 and Wittenberg rolled to a 13-4 recored.

In the first match against The College of Wooster, the Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore All-OAC outside hitter Rachel Selgo (Grand Rapids, Mich.), who recorded 12 kills and 20 digs. Junior All-OAC outside hitter Kelsey Hills (Toledo/ St. Ursula Academy) also had 12 kills and 18 digs. Senior All-American setter Angie Camp (Norwalk/ St. Paul) earned 37 set assists. Junior libero Meggie Marten (Bowling Green/ Senior) contributed 19 digs to the team. Leading the team’s blocking efforts were sophomore middle hitter Brook Hinkle (Wellington) with nine blocks and Camp with six.

In the second match against Wittenberg University, Hills had a team high number of kills with 14, followed by Selgo with nine. Camp came through strong again recording 35 set assists, three service aces and 17 digs. Marten recorded 20 digs and three service aces. Freshman defensive specialist Kenzie Martin (Centerburg) joined Camp and Marten with three serves aces. Hinkle again led the team in blocks with five, followed by Selgo with 4.

The volleyball team will travel to Alliance, Ohio when they take on OAC rival Mount Union College Tuesday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. Timken Gymnasium.
