B-W: The Baldwin-Wallace College Volleyball Team Wins Its Ohio Athletic Conference

Opener Against Otterbein College, 3-0, in Berea

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team won its home Ohio Athlettic Conference openner against Otterbein College, 3-0, tonight (Sept. 27) at the Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea

With the win, the Yellow Jackets are now 8-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play while Otterbein drops to 5-9 overall and 0-1 in the OAC. B-W won the by the scores of 30-23, 30-22, and 30-23.

Sophomore libero Meggie Martin (Bowling Green) led the way for the Yellow Jackets both on offense and defense. She opened the second game serving with a 12-0 run. Her serving prowess added to her impressive game-high total of 22 digs.

Offensively, sophomore All-OAC outside hitter Kelsey Hills (Toledo/ St. Ursula Academy) led the team with 17 kills and hit .500 overall. In addition, freshman OH Rachel Selgo (Grand Rapids, Mich./ West Catholic) had 12 kills. Junior setter Angie Camp (Norwalk/ St. Paul) led the team in set assists with 41.

Defensively, freshman Maria DePeters (Buffalo, NY/ Mount St. Mary Academy) led the team with a total of six blocks, including four solo's and two assists. DePeters also had 10 kills. Also on defense, sophomore defensive specialist Toni Ward (Mogadore/ Field) was second with 12 digs and senior All-OAC rightside player Emily Albanese (Mentor) had 11.

The Yellow Jackets return to action this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 in Cincinnati when they travel to the prestigious College of Mount St. Joseph Tournament. B-W begins play on Friday at 2:00 p.m.
