Yellow Jackets Open with a Win Over Otterbein College at the Mount St. Joseph Invitational

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team opened with a win over Otterbein College at the Mount St. Joseph Invitational.  The Yellow Jackets won 3-1 (30-19, 30-28, 18-30, 30-20).

The Yellow Jackets improve to 14-2 overall and 4-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference while Otterbein falls to 13-4, 1-0 in the OAC.

Sophomore middle hitter Maria DePeters (Williamsville N.Y./Mt. St. Mary Academy) led the team offensively with 20 kills, a hitting percentage of 0.690, and five service aces.  Junior All-OAC outside hitter Kelsey Hills (Toledo/St. Ursula Academy) also contributed 14 kills.  Senior All-American setter Angie Camp (Norwalk/St. Paul) had an impressive 51 set assists.

Defensively, junior libero Meggie Marten (Bowling Green/Senior) and sophomore All-OAC outside hitter Rachel Selgo (Grand Rapids, Mich./West Catholic) both recorded 14 digs while freshman defensive specialist Kenzie Martin (Centerburg) added 12.  DePeters and Camp led the team in blocks, earning seven and six respectively.

Tonight, the Yellow Jackets continue play at the Mount St. Joseph Invitational when they take on Centre (Ky.) at 5:30 p.m.
