Baldwin-Wallace defeats Marietta to advance to OAC Tournament Championship Match

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College Yellow Jackets defeated the Marietta College Pioneers, 3-0, in the first semifinal match of the 2003 Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament at the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea, Ohio.  The Yellow Jackets won by the scores of 30-23, 30-27, 30-20.

The Yellow Jackets, now 18-15 overall, advanced to the OAC Championship match against Ohio Northern University on Saturday, Nov. 8.  Capital ends its season at 18-13 overall. 

The Yellow Jackets were led up front by senior Cassie Palmer (Greenwich/ South Central) with 15 kills and nine blocks (two solo and seven assisted).  In addition, senior Emily Bowen (Tiffin/Columbian) had nine kills, eight blocks and eight digs.  The Yellow Jacket offense was set up by senior Angie Elser (Wooster/Northwestern) with 23 set assists.  The defense was led by freshman Kim Stoll (Norwalk/St. Paul) with 12 digs. 

Marietta was led up front by freshman Ellen Doolittle (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manuel) with 10 kills and two blocks.  The offense was set up by senior Erin Perry (Athens) with 25 set assists.  The defense was led by Salena McIlwain (Reynoldsburg) with 13 digs and Perry added 11.
