Quarterfinal Tournament Match to Muskingum
BEREA, OHIO -- The 21st-ranked Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team lost to league rival Muskingum College in the Ohio Athletic Conference Quarterfinal tournament match tonight (Oct. 31) in Berea. Baldwin-Wallace entered the tournament as the #2 seed, while Muskingum entered as the #7 seed.
With the loss, B-W drops to 26-7, and Muskingum improves to 16-15. The Yellow Jackets will await an announcement from the NCAA Division III Volleyball committee for a hope at an at-large bid into the NCAA National Tournament. B-W lost by the scores of 21-30, 30-22, 31-29, 32-30.
The offense was led by junior All-OAC outside hitter Kelsey Hills (Toledo/ St. Ursula Academy) with 16 kills, sophomore All-OAC outside hitter Rachel Selgo (Grand Rapids, Mich./ West Catholic) with 14 and sophomore middle hitter Maria DePeters (Williamsville, N.Y./ Mount St. Mary's Academy) with 12. Senior All-American setter Angie Camp (Norwalk/ St. Paul) registered 48 set assists. Freshman defensive specialist Kenzie Martin (Centerburg) recorded three service aces. Defensively junior libero Meggie Marten (Bowling Green/ Senior) recorded 33 digs while Hills contributed 19 and Selgo added 17. Leading the team in blocks was Hills with five, while sophomore middle hitter Brooke Hinkle (Wellington), DePeters and Camp all contributed four.
The Yellow Jackets have been eliminated from the OAC tournament, but still have a chance to continue play if offered a bid in the NCAA tournament beginning next week. Please check the B-W Athletics website for continuing updates.
