BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival Mt. Union 3-1, tonight at Mt. Union. The scores of the match were 30-23, 26-30, 31-29, and 33-21. With this victory, B-W is now 10-9 overall and 3-0 in the OAC.
In today's victory against the Purple Raiders, senior Laura Leach (Norwalk Senior) had 25 kills followed by senior three-time All-OAC and two-time All-Great Lakes Region middle hitter Cassie Palmer (Greenwich/ South Central) who contributed to the front row with 21 kills and 5 blocks adding to her record with 1,607 kills in her career at B-W while two-time All-OAC player Emily Bowen (Tiffin Columbian) added 14 kills in tonights victory.
In the middle as the setter, senior Angie Elser (Wooster/ Northwestern) had 53 set assists and added 16 digs.
In the back row, freshman Kim Stoll (Norwalk/ St. Paul) led the way with 24 digs and was followed by Bowen with 17. Senior Kerri Helm (Luckey/Eastwood) also helped the Yellow Jackets by adding 7 digs.
This Tuesday, B-W will travel to Springfield, Ohio for the Whittenberg University National Tournament to face Elmherst, Whittenberg and Mt. St. Joseph. At this event, B-W will again be tested by the Top 25 as it faces seventh-ranked Wittenberg, eighth-ranked Elmhurst (Ill.) College and ninth-ranked Mt. St. Joseph.
By the time B-W finishes at Wittenberg, it will have played eight teams ranked in the Top 10 and 12 in the Top 25 in a minimum of 22 matches. Now that's facing great competition.
