The 19th-national Ranked Baldwin-Wallace College Volleyball Team Defeated

Wheaton (Ill.) College, but Fell to 13th-national Ranked Calvin (Mich.) College

BEREA, OHIO -- The 19th-national ranked Baldwin-Wallace College volleyball team defeated Wheaton (Ill.) in its first match at the Calvin (Mich.) / Hope (Mich.) Midwest Invitational today, 3-0 (31-29, 30-26, 30-21). In its second match, the Yellow Jackets fell to 13th-nationally ranked Calvin (Mich.) in three games (30-26, 30-26, 30-16).

After today's matches, B-W is now 25-5 overall and 8-1 in the OAC, Wheaton falls to 16-10 and Calvin improves to 26-1.

Offensively in the first match, junior All-OAC outside hitter Kelsey Hills (Toledo/St. Ursula Academy) led the way with 12 kills and sophomore middle hitter Maria DePeters (Williamsville, N.Y./ Mt. St. Mary's Academy) added eight. DePeters led the team with four service aces, while sophomore teammate All-OAC outside hitter Rachel Selgo (Grand Rapids, Mich./ West Catholic) recorded three. Senior All-American setter Angie Camp (Norwalk/ St. Paul) recorded 33 set assists.

Defensively, junior libero Meggie Marten (Bowing Green/ Senior) recorded 14 digs, while Selgo contributed 12 and Hills added 11. Leading the team in blocks was Camp with six, while DePeters added five and sophomore middle hitter Brooke Hinkle (Wellington) contributed three.

In the second match, B-W's offense was led by Selgo with 10 kills and Hills added nine. Marten contributed three service aces. Camp recorded 20 set assists.

Defensively, Hills added 14 digs, while Camp contributed 13 and Marten added 10. Leading the team in blocks were DePeters and Hinkle with five each, while Selgo contributed four.

The Yellow Jackets will continue play tomorrow (Oct. 29) at the Calvin (Mich.) / Hope (Mich.) Invitational. They will play against Hanover (Ind) College at 11:00 a.m. and will then play Hope (Mich.) College at 1:00 p.m.
